The Catlins
Get out amongst it in a full day of wilderness, wildlife and walks, exploring desolate beaches, lush native bush, stunning waterfalls and a petrified forest over 160 million years old.

The Catlins is nestled on the southern coast of the South island between two lighthouses at Waipapa Point and Nuggert Point. A landscape of extreme contrasts with lush rain forest peering over rocky cliffs that border sweeping golden sand beaches. Picture postcard waterfalls cascade down to coastlines exposed to ferocious weather and pounding seas that have uncovered treasures such as the 180 million year old fossilised forest.

The South Coast
Will you ever go further south? Travel the Southern Senic Route and visit Invercargill, hop across to Stewart Island, explore the Catlins and continue to Dunedin - a bustling University City with natural history, classical architecture and plenty of attractions.
