Begin your tour by visiting Oamaru's historic precinct featuring glorious whitestone buildings reeking with Victorian history. Then take in the view from the Lookout above the harbour and town.

On to Bushy beach Yellow-eyed penguin colony. short walk to observe the world's rarest penguins in their natural environment. See them return from a hard days fishing and making their way in to the steep coastal bush to their nests.

Down to business at the Oamaru Blue Penguin Colony. Seated in a purpose built stadium with full commentary from a wildlife guide you are entranced by the little Blue penguin (yes this is the world's smallest penguin species) as they land on the rocky foreshore and tackle a rocky incline as they make their way to their nests in the old Oamaru harbour quarry area.

Seasonal fluctuations in numbers from 10 to 200 birds (summer). take time to see the exhibits in the visitor centre which detail more information about penguins and other wildlife in the area. A souvenir shop completes the picture with every penguin items you do and don't ever need! Return to your Oamaru accommodation / town centre taking in the evening glow of the lights on the Oamaru Opera House

Daily year round.

Pick up time is dependent on daylight hours and penguin 'schedule' and will be confirmed at time of booking. These range from 4pm in June / July to 7pm in December / January.

2 to 3.5 hours duration in total with fluctuations due to season, weather and bird behaviour.
