Black Water Rafting
Developed in New Zealand, and often called one of the extreme sports (although they are frequently not particularly extreme), blackwater rafting is a distant relative of the more commonly known white-water rafting.
Blackwater rafting is called that because the rafting occurs on underground streams in the dark. Rafters are dressed in wetsuits and fitted with an inflated inner tube which cushions against slippery rocks and keeps them afloat as they ride down rapids, shoot sliders and jump waterfalls in the dark.
These activities are run as guided tours with experienced rafters, who are familiar with the terrain, and are available in a variety of levels for all kinds of adventurers.
